What is the Difference Between Single-Wound and Centerfold Shrink Film?

When you need to buy shrink film for your company’s products, you might have met two types. Some of the people already know about these kinds because of their experience. But some of the customers still do not know about the two primary types of shrink films. One is a Single-wound shrink film and the second is a centerfold shrink film.

Once you know the kinds of shrink film, then you can decide which one is perfect for your products. If you do not have detailed knowledge about the kinds of product. You cannot decide which one is better and right for your products.

The simplest way is to test these films for your products is to try them on. You can order a small roll of both types and examine their application on your items. But, do not you think that you should directly choose the right one for your products. And do not waste your time and money on testing and trying. Thus, this writing blog will help you to save time and money.

Single-Wound Shrink Film

Single-wound shrink film is a wrapping sheet that comes only with a single roll. The second name of this packaging shrink film is single-layer or flat films. They are usually used for the packing of different kinds of consumer products. These sheets are always gashed to the core. When you need to decide on a shrink film for your products, you should know all of its plus points and negative. Also, you must know its measurements. The single-wound film ranges from 45 gauge to 60 gauge; however, other sizes are available. But usually on request or customization. The mentioned is the standard size and available in all the stores (from where you can buy packaging products). If you are still confusing between the sizes of gauge and film. Then keep in mind that you will get the thinner film if the gauge is smaller. When it comes to the width, it has usually 8 inches to 32.5 inches. The above width is available on request and demand.

The average length of the single-wound shrink film is 11,660 to 23,320 feet. The gauge of the film will determine the footage of the film’s roll. Apart from this standard length size, you can order lengthier films in the custom option. One of the vital types of names is polyolefin film. It has used for the wrapping of multiple products, toys, and games. Some PVC has used for food and processed meat.

Centerfold Shrink Film

This is the second kind of shrink film that has folded lengthwise in half. After this folding, it turns into a roll form. It is 20 inches wide, folded from the center. If you will unfold its width, it will give your 40 inches a wide look. This is the film that is appropriate for lightweight items and can be used for multiple general products. Thus, it has also called general-purpose packaging. It can also use for the packing of food items and other processed eatables. The average width of the centerfold film is 8 inches to 32.5 inches. The range of the gauge is 45 to 100 in thickness. Moreover, a customization option is also available for center folded shrink films. You can use the thin and thicker center width according to the fragility of your products.

Now, you almost know every type of shrink film. It is easier to make decisions for your products. For heavy and expansive objects, you should go for center folded shrink films. As they have stability in the middle of the sheet. thus, they can carry the heavy products effortlessly. Moreover, for small and weight-less objects single-wounded shrink films would be the better option.

Get all of your stocking rooms packed up for less

Since I started working at home with the pandemic I now have seen that the cost of daily office supplies is pretty crazy.  I have even seen our companies budget and it is really high for this area.  I never imagined that our office would spend a thousand dollars a month on simple things like paper, packages, and labels. My work decided to trim down this year and well that meant losing a few people along with cutting budgets.  I am happy enough to have a job so when I was given the task of cutting costs in the daily office supplies to took the job seriously. I figured this task would not only reflect upon my skills but my ability to stay employed as well.  Now I wanted to find a way to get our company spending less and a way for our work at home people to benefit as well.

Cutting costs for the company meant knowing our spending habits and how many of the items we really needed.  That was the start of understanding how to purchase in the long run for this office task. Our previous manager did not keep great records and that turned out to be a pretty big problem.  I had to take a whole month and track every item used and when and why. This was a big waste, but I knew it would pay off in the end.  Excell was a big help in this area and it allowed me to understand our companies needs.

It gave me a vast understanding of the paper products we used.   I knew how many cardboard boxes we shipped each month and how many labels we used for packages and cardboard boxes.  This small step gave me a true budget number to go on and now it was up to me to find a way to cut it. A lot of people try to get complicated and cut processes or change the way things or projects are done.  This is hard, time-consuming, and usually annoying to all involved. Instead, I simply wanted to cut the cost of all these products down to the lowest possible amount. From here I knew that I had to start shopping.  Easy shopping is generally going to be used and that is probably what got our company in trouble to start with.

Obviously, Amazon was on the top of the list, but I know there is a big markup on all products sold on that platform.  I knew the exact amount of items I would need to get through an entire month so I put it all up in my cart to see what I could do.  This is what I am pretty sure my predecessor did as well.  But what this really did was give me a bottom-line price for easy shipping.

Don't stop at what is easy, I went on to find more options. I wanted to look locally and see if I could find a good deal that was close to Amazon or even better, but I knew that would most likely not work.  So I called in some orders and sent my list to see what companies could do.  Then I went online and shopped the largest shipping supply companies and gave them my orders.  They sent quotes and I sent the competitor's quotes against each other. It turns out I was able to lower the costs from our original locations of shopping nearly in half.

Know More About Contract Packaging

Finding out and selecting an appropriate packaging solution for your products can be hectic. It requires a lot of research and creativity. Therefore, you need to study a lot about packaging machinery and materials that are necessary for packing. While planning and taking decisions, you need to calculate the cost of labor, material, and packaging-related matters, in-house, and out-house both. If you are already bearing the high cost, then you need to cut the extra prices and taxes. In the packaging line process, you will have to plan and everything. Keep the demands of a warehouse in focus and in the planning phase.

The packaging does not only mean materials, appliances, and equipment. It also requires a complete warehouse fully equipped. You need to fulfill supply chain requirements as well. Also, keep all the tools that are genuinely necessary and truly require. You can justify your appliances, expenses, and budget. If you have prepared all these things, then take a look at your warehouse size. Is it enough for your tools, machinery, and other necessary materials? Moreover, another paramount question is either you can afford a new warehouse or not. Plan everything according to your budget constraints.

While planning and pondering all these elements of packaging procedure, you will understand that implementing a packaging line and managing the entire procedure is a huge responsibility. It is also a time-consuming task that demands your deep attention and focus. Some companies only outsource all the packaging material and labor to configure their packing procedure. Well, outsourcing everything could be more expensive and welcoming a new partner in your company. If you are running a continued business that requires weekly stuff to deliver. Then, it is better to have your own machinery and warehouse. It will cut the extra cost and so many other issues. You can work efficiently and do not need to wait for any other’s time and commitment.

However, out-sourcing can be beneficial and time-saving for so many businesses. Here is a business, contract packaging, or co-packer that can serve your packaging purpose. This company has a technique of keeping you on the right track. This permits you to pay attention to your company’s strengths and positive points. This also makes the organization’s products consistent and optimize.

Co-packer works with you like a partner and tackles are your business-related issues that need vigilant tasks and planning. They will handle all the aspects of packaging. They have a complete infrastructure of the supply chain.

Contract Packaging

Now, you won't know what contract packaging means. It is the packaging that fulfills your packing procedure on your company’s behalf.  A company usually hires another packaging company to pack and deliver their products. It covers and fulfills your company’s supply chain demands. It included all the tasks of primary and secondary packaging processes. It takes care of steps from finished goods, point-of-purchase display builds inventory management, to distribution to the market or directly to the customer.

When you outsource a packaging company, it allows you to focus on the core responsibilities and tasks of the companies. Hiring a partner for the packing procedure means sharing duties. Also, you will have someone expert that can be responsible for delivering your product on time and in undamaged condition. Thus, having a third party in packaging can be a wise decision. Also, it will flow your work in a more efficient manner.

How to Properly dispose of Packaging in 2021

This year has given me a lot of time at home.  We are all experiencing covid regulations differently and for me, it has meant me working at home.  I am also shopping at home too.  One of my favorite hobbies has actually come in hand during this pandemic and I never thought it would.  We are now forced to shop online and because of this, we are getting tons of packaging each and every day. There are people who work very hard to create amazing tools that look like art and can be appreciated not only as a hard-working tool but a work of art.  This passion has led me to buy and sell hundreds of top high-end knives in the last few years.  This came into being a useful hobby because my garage is now filled with cardboard boxes from online purchases that I have been forced to make because of the pandemic.  The main issue I started to have was that the recycling trashcan that we have is not big enough to get rid of all the packages if I simply toss them in. The best way to dispose of the packaging the right way was to chop it up to fit.

This only came to be necessary because my trash company only allows one recycling can per home.  Now I usually just drive my recycling to a big location to get rid of, but that is no longer legal due to local regulations.   So I started just tossing the packages in, but only a couple of these cardboard boxes my can filled up.  Due to the pandemic I have been ordering much more than that every single week.  So figured out that it was time to put my hobby to use.  The answer for this was to not use a pocket knife though. Folding knives are great and for one or two cardboard boxes they do just a fine job.  The issue is ergonomics on them are not great and can really hurt your hand after not too much work.

This meant that I began using a fixed blade and started to find the best knives for my task.  I began with a nice large handled fixed blade.  I suggest not just going out and getting the cheapest thing you see on the shelf of your big box store or Amazon.  You also don't need to spend 300 dollars on a semi-custom knife as I enjoy.  I think there is a great middle-ground for where a starter should begin. Don't worry there is a super cheap option that is actually very effective.

The brand Morkaniv knives are actually very capable for how little they cost.  They are a Swedish company that provides the most quality of steel in a budget costing knife.  The handles are normally comfortable for most sized hands and they don't cost a lot.  For less than 15 dollars you can get one shipped to your door and it will do the job for you with ease and comfort.

Now you can step it up to another level of quality and spend less than 100 dollars and then you can find a Fallkniven knife on the market that will give you better steel that will last longer and be more rust proof.  I hope you can find one that works well for you and your recycling needs.

Box companies

When it comes to cardboard boxes, there are many different suppliers in this shipping business. Today we are going to take a look at some of...
